Homepage proposal

Here's my proposal for a home page:

I realize it's quite big, and perhaps the text is too verbose. Maybe we can
split the sections into tabs, and cut some of the text. I am aware that i
tend to write a lot, so don't hesitate to point out stuff that should be
cut :)

As for the design, it's simple and (IMO) neat, but for that very reason
it's also easy to change into something else, if that's desirable.
